Today's Gospel touches on a virtue little spoken of in the life of the Church today: custody of the heart. Custody of the heart consists in giving our heart and soul to Christ alone, only aspiring to please Him. Any aspirations apart from Christ are meaningless, no matter how noble they are in the eyes of men. Fr. Bonaventure beautifully explains how this virtue of custody of the heart must inform all our thoughts, our motives, actions, words - everything.
