Ave Maria Meditations
Jesus could have saved a thousand worlds with a short prayer. Instead, He willed to shed all of His Blood to redeem us. Blood constitutes the essence of sacrifice, for blood is the means of reconciliation with heaven. It is the sign of covenant, which under the Old Law was poured out at the foot of the altar as a sign of expiation. Jesus, you gave Your Blood out of pure love for us and shed even the very last drop of it to open the gates of heaven for us.
Jesus told us: He who drinks my blood will have eternal life and I will raise him up on the last day. Whoever drinks of this blood will have eternal life! Even after dying for us, Jesus wanted to demonstrate His love. He left the climax of His infinite love and mercy. He allowed a lance to open His side, leaving a wide wound through which His Heart poured out the last drop of His Blood which, mingled with water, would wash clean the whole world.
That divine Blood of the God-Man is present in the Sacraments. It is the treasure of the Church and the salvation of the world. O Jesus, may I never lose sight of You like this, pouring out Your Blood for love of me! I want to enter into the depths of love of Your Sacred Heart and never leave! You, who shed all of Your Blood to save me and to obtain for me the grace of purity and a happy eternity, grant that I might ever live within You.
