Ave Maria Meditations
It is necessary that there be temptations! Without an enemy, there will be no fight, without a fight there will be no victory, and without victory there will be no reward. We need only never acquiesce, knowingly and willingly, to the least evil…
In temptations it is necessary to be aware of sin as the greatest evil. After a fall we must not forget that the Immaculata will never abandon us, for she is the Refuge of Sinners. The Saints say that if anyone doubts whether he consented to a temptation, he can be sure that there was no consent if he was calling on the name of the Blessed Mother. It was a victory and it will have its reward.
Do you know why the devil strikes at the honor of the Blessed Mother? Because he wants to snap the bond between God and us. If the devil slipped up in paradise, maybe it was a question more of the Mother of God then of Jesus. Not to wish to acknowledge the Mother of God is human pride, dictated by the devil.
