Why Did Judas Betray Jesus? – Apr 12 – Homily – Fr Bernard

 

Fr. Bernard M. Salter gives the homily from Our Lady's Chapel, New Bedford, MA, for Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent (Apr 12, 2025), on how Judas' disposed himself to the awful betray of his Lord, teacher, and friend, Jesus, through the repetition of little infidelities.

The soul, weakened by vice--repeated acts of infidelity, smaller betrayals--eventually becomes more and more corrupt, to the point of committing greater and greater betrayals--of God, of loved ones, and even of oneself.  Regular fidelity in small matters, on the other hand, leads to greater fidelity in large matters, and lessens the possibility of great betrayals.
