Fr. Bernard M. Salter gives the homily from Our Lady's Chapel, New Bedford, MA, for Saturday of the Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time (optional memorial of Our Lady on Saturday) on Nov 22, 2024, explaining the sense of today's Gospel. Marriage is a necessary good in this life, but it is ordered to eternal life in which there will be no marriage. The union of all with God in the beatific vision is anticipated through the eschatological sign of religious life. Chastity is the common aspect of love's perfection in both states of life.
