Fr Joseph M. gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Oct 30, 2024, on how St. Joseph's example and Mary's intercession remind us to prepare daily for a peaceful end in God’s grace, with our soul ready to meet Him.

Today’s Mass celebrated St. Joseph, honored on Wednesdays and known as the Patron of a Happy Death. Father encourages daily prayers to St. Joseph to help us prepare for our last day. Reflecting on the Gospel, he explains that God’s invitation is open to all, but some, even those first called, did not accept Jesus as Lord. We should prioritize our soul's readiness to stand before God. Referring to Jesus urging us to “strive to enter through the narrow gate” (see Luke 13:24), Father suggests Mary, as the Gate of Heaven, can lead us. Citing St. Alphonsus Liguori, he reminds us of Mary’s unmatched power to intercede and save us, especially when we pray for her help in the Hail Mary.

Ave Maria!
