Sasko's gives the homily from Our Lady's Chapel, New Bedford, MA, for the Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time (Sep 08, 2024), explaining today's Gospel reading in an allegorical manner. Our Lord's interaction with the deaf-mute person can be interpreted as an analogy for our inability as missionaries until we draw close to Jesus, and listen to him; he will open our ears and minds, and mouths, so that we may faithfully proclaim him.
