Fr Matthias gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on May 28, 2024, on how salvation is God's act of saving us from harm, giving us holiness through grace, which we must value and share, aided by devotion to Our Lady

Father explains salvation as God saving us from harm, mainly the harm of being separated from Him, which causes loneliness and sin. Salvation requires holiness, which means having a real relationship with God through His grace. Grace removes our loneliness and heals our brokenness (Genesis 2:18 - Not good for man to be alone - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/genesis/2?18). Without grace, we can't be holy, and without holiness, we can't be saved (1 Peter 1:16 - Be holy in all your conduct - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/1peter/1?16). We must value, seek, and share grace with others (Philippians 2:12 - Work out salvation with fear and trembling - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/philippians/2?12). Our Lady helps us receive and keep grace . Our relationship with God has no limits, and we should strive for holiness to see God (Hebrews 12:14 - https://bible.usccb.org/bible/hebrews/12?14).
