God Chastises Those Whom He Loves – Mar 10 – Homily – Fr Ignatius
Views 146
Fr Ignatius gives the homily for the Fourth Sunday of Lent at New Bedford (Mar 10, 2024), explaining how God sometimes manifests his mercy and love with severity and chastisement, a form of "tough love." Father draws on Scripture and scriptural commentary to reason that God's vengeance must be imminent. Father points out that the present, morally corrupt "state of the union," and the cultural rebellion against God's law and natural law, can but reach a limit, and then God will chastise the infidel nations. We should seek to be all the more repentant and conciliatory with God, to reduce the punishment that contemporary man is bringing upon himself.
