Ave Maria Meditations
Our Lord as often as much pleased by your good intentions and desires then by their execution. The good desire, the longing and wish to be perfect is strong in you, and as long as that remains you need never fear displeasing God. Besides, you have a tremendous lever of sanctification in the power of love that enables us to do things, especially what cost us an effort, for our Lord’s dear sake.
Mind, this, does not mean feeling sensible affection, but simply a dry act of the will, intending to make the sacrifice or action an act of pure love. “My God, I do this for the love of you, and for no one else in the world would I do it.” Try this in easy things, and occasionally make a dive at a really big sacrifice which costs, for love means sacrifice, and sacrifice leads infallibly to love.
