Was Jesus “Out of His Mind”? – Jan 20 – Homily – Fr Maximilian
Views 174
Fr Maximilian M. Warnisher gives the homily for Saturday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time (optional memorial of Our Lady on Saturday, Jan 20, 2024), reflecting on the comment of Jesus' relatives in today's Gospel: "He's out of his mind;" Father points out that it is the intensity of his love for us that drives Jesus to exceed "reasonable" limits to his availability and generosity. Jesus was not out of his mind, but his thinking was "outside the box" and his love was without the limits imposed by complacency and mediocrity. We, too, must struggle to exceed the limits of our complacent comfort, if we are to accompany Jesus and the Church in the continuing work of Redemption.
