Fr. Maximilian M. Warnisher gives the Dec 17, 2023 homily on the 3rd Sunday of Advent, known as Gaudete Sunday (from the Latin word for “rejoice”), which begins the stronger period of Advent in immediate preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas. Today the Church looks at Christ’s precursor, St. John the Baptist, and encourages us to prepare the way for the Lord. And so it is a time of great rejoicing, that the coming of the Lord is near!
