No Authority in the World Is Exempt From Divine Authority – Nov 05 – Homily – Fr Alan

Fr Alan gives the homily for the Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time at New Bedford, on Nov 05, 2023, reflecting on the abuse of authority, noting that no authority in the world--whether in civil society or in the Church--is exempt from the Divine authority, which is the foundation of all legitimate authority.

Nonetheless, men in authority often abuse the power given them, to serve self rather than to serve God and their fellow men over whom they have authority. Those who are subject to authority, per Christ's instruction, are to obey, but not to be conformed to the corruption of those who abuse authority.
