“Turning to supplication, they prayed that the sinful deed might be fully blotted out. . . Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be absolved from their sin.” – 2 Maccabees 12:42–46
Prayer for the Commemoration of All Souls: God of life, You created us to be with You forever in Heaven. Pour out Your love on our departed dead. Hold them close to You and show them Your infinite mercy. Your son Jesus suffered and died for the sins of all mankind. But You raised Him up, that we too might be raised and enjoy eternal life with You. May we never despair, Lord, but trust in the power of Your love. For grace and mercy are with Your Holy ones and all those who have faith abide with You in everlasting joy. Amen.
