Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Aug 23, 2023, where he continues his series "Catechesis on Sexuality" explaining how contraception, "the Big C," is the root of our modern Gender Theory.

Today's Gospel introduces the parable of the landowner seeking workers for his vineyard. Our modern world is a tumultuous sea, and the Lord seeks laborers to navigate it. A significant storm in this sea is the gender theory movement. Previously, we discussed contraception as a root of gender confusion, highlighting Margaret Sanger's birth control movement in the 20th century. This movement aimed to free women from childbearing responsibilities and promote sexual liberation.

In 1930, the Anglican Lambeth Conference permitted birth control for married couples in "extreme cases." This was a significant shift in Christian history. Historically, the Anglican Church began 400 years earlier, compromising its principles for the king's desires. The Anglican Church's decision paved the way for other Protestant churches to accept contraception. Mary Eberstadt, in "Adam and Eve After the Pill", notes that this acceptance led to blurred lines between heterosexual and homosexual rights. The separation of sex from procreation has led to a distorted view of sexuality.

By the 1960s, oral contraception became available, thanks in a large degree to Margaret Sanger. This ease of contraception led to the legalization of abortion a decade later. The contraceptive culture views sex as recreational, not procreational. This mindset has given rise to the "hookup culture" on college campuses. The contraceptive mentality disconnects sex from procreation, leading to the need for abortion when contraception fails.

Contraception and its consequences are the pillars of gender ideology. The sin of contraception has caused spiritual blindness, with gender ideology being a manifestation of this blindness. Let's seek Our Lady's grace to guide Catholics back to the true teachings on contraception, emphasizing the importance of their eternal salvation.
