Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Jun 19, 2023, where he continues his series on Franciscan Spirituality, introducing the idea that this spirituality is based on a Christocentric doctrinal basis.

The Franciscan school asserts the absolute primacy of Christ, viewing the incarnation as God's masterpiece, regardless of the existence of sin. Conversely, the Dominican school supports Christ's relative primacy, where Christ's coming is due to Adam's sin.

The Franciscan teaching called Christ's absolute predestination states that Jesus would have become incarnate irrespective of sin.

God, in the blessed Trinity, is one—perfectly simple, eternal, and infinite love. His divine plan, encompassing creation, incarnation, redemption, and glorification, reflects these qualities. God's work flawlessly aligns with his eternal vision, and there's no room for mistakes, errors, or last-minute changes.

God's motives for creation derive from within himself; they aren't inspired by external factors. [Proverbs 16:4](https://bible.usccb.org/bible/proverbs/16?4) - 'The Lord hath made all things for himself'—implies this. Thus, theories suggesting the incarnation depends on original sin are rejected by the Franciscan school as they propose an extrinsic motive.

Both creation and incarnation glorify God, with the latter being primarily for God's glory and secondarily for our benefit. From the Franciscan perspective, Christ, God's love masterpiece, arises from the union of the divine Word with Christ's sacred humanity. Consequently, they interpret the universe as a love work, with Christ at its center, and everything created is for Christ.
