Notes:
Portiuncula chapel in Assisi is where he started his order is called Our Lady of the Angels
Many prayers and words of affection to Mary, too many to number.
Would often pray all night to God and in praise to Mary.
Mary brought peace and good (pax et bonum) to St. Elizabeth
Franciscan prayer to our Lady
He called her Daughter of the Father, Mother of the Sun, and Spouse of the Holy Spirit.
Francis was the first to call her the Spouse of the Holy Spirit.
Franciscans promoted Immaculate Conception 500 years before it was defined
Rebuilding the Portiunclular clarified his vocation to rebuild Christ's Church, that it was not to physically rebuild church buildings but to renew the whole Church.
Portiuncula chapel is where his order started, his devotion to Mary was solidified, and where he died.
Celano - The Portiuncula is filled with more grace and visited by blessed spirits; never let it go,
St Francis received Mary at the foot of the cross of St Damiano as St John did at Calvary.
The poverty of Mary was the inspiration for the poverty of the Franciscans.
True Christocentrism includes Mary.
We must give devotion to Mary to get to Christ because He came to us through her.
