Ave Maria Meditations
If our Lord appeared to us in the splendor of His glory, our gaze would not be able to bear the splendor. In order to give Himself to us, He hides himself, no longer under the infirmity of flesh, as in the mystery of the Incarnation, but under the species of bread and wine.
Let us say to Him: Lord Jesus, for love of us, in order to draw us to Thyself to become our food, Thou didst veil Thy majesty. But that will lose nothing of our homage thereby. The more hidden Thy divinity, the more we wish to adore Thee, the more, too, we wish to cast ourselves at Thy feet with profound reverence and ardent love.
