Fr Ignatius gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Jul 15, 2022, Feast of St. Bonaventure on how St Bonaventure, Franciscan, cardinal and Doctor of the Church, emphasized both the intellect and will, knowledge and love of God in his spiritual life.
Martyrology, St Bonaventure: Franciscan, erudite and pious, knowledge and love 1221-1274 Lyon France
Ephesians be rooted and grounded in love
Bonaventure combined love and knowledge
which was the concern of St Francis for the friars to be humble on earth so they could be exalted in heaven
Learning puffs up but
Very learned but spent much time in prayer and meditation
When cardinals came with his red hat, he said, "Hang it on the tree" and he continued doing the dishes
Do we study the faith, good to prey but need to give the reason for your faith
Ave Maria!
