Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on May 23, 2022, on how the 5th Commandment tells us we should not commit suicide or euthanasia.

Euthanasia means good death. Father Explains the difference between the pagan and Christian ideas of a good death. Pagan is no pain, Christian is being right with God.

Teaching the Christian idea of the value of suffering

Suicide we are not the owner of our life, God is

Mitigation of the gravity of suicide

How to prevent, bring pain to light, talk about it

Need to deal with the deeper problem, More social contact, less chance of suicide

Usually, involve a long process of disconnect

Help others not focus on hurts, guilt, and negative thoughts, help them connect, to let them know that you understand

Questions to ask to help them, How will things be five years from now? Sometimes we just need to know that better days are coming.
