The life of St. Benedict the Moor (the Black), Confessor, First Order (1526-1589) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Apr 4. Benedict was born in San Fratello, Messina, Sicily, of African slave parents was a laborer. As a Franciscan, he became a hermit and yet continued to help the poor with many charitable works.

Reflection is on how God does not respect persons.
