Incarnation & Prayer Life – Mar 08 – Homily – Fr Terrance
Views 1237
Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Mar 08, 2022, on how there are no word games in the incarnation and there should none in our prayer life either and this centers on forgiveness as highlighted in the Our Father prayer that Jesus gives in the Gospel today.
Notes:
Like the rain that falls to the ground, gives life and returns to the sky, so does the word of God, his word is true and efficacious unlike political slogans today.
God: "My thoughts are not your thoughts."
God's word is personified and goes out and sanctifies us
But primary reason for incarnation, according to the Franciscan Thesis of the Absolute Primacy of Christ, is for God to unite himself with Creation and creation was brought into being for the incarnation
Word came to us, Christ, and then returned to God the Father when his mission was complete
We need to use the right words when talking to God, the Our Father prayer that Jesus gave to us.
If you forgive others then you will be forgiven. Being forgiving is what is so pleasing to God and without this our prayers are empty words, mere word games
Forgiveness is not a side dish but the main meal.
