The Life of Bl. James of Pieve, Martyr, Third Order (d. 1304) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jan 26. James was born in Pieve, Lombardy, Italy and was well educated but pious. As a priest he joined the third order and used his wealth and education to help and defend the poor. He was martyred treacherously by those who tried to defraud the poor.
