The Life of S. of God Vico Necchi, Confessor, Third Order (1876-1930) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jan 9.   Vico was a physician at a time when most in his profession were vociferous atheists. He instead gave a great example of Catholic principles giving energy to modern, intellectual, practical and social endeavors. He also founded the University of he Sacred Heart.

Reflection is on Catholic Action that shines the light of the Gospel in society and public life.
A great antidote to secularism of our day, role of lay apostles.
St Francis is patron of Catholic action, rooted in respect for the hierarchy and the Church.
