The Life of Bl. Christina of Tuscany, Virgin, Third Order (d. 1310) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jan 4. Bl. Christina was a shepherdess who refused marriage to remain a virgin for Christ. She went to Lucca as a servant girl and then to Rome and then back to Santa Croce, her hometown. Many young ladies followed her example and started a third order group there.
