Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Dec 01, 2021, where he continues his series on the Beatitudes and here on the 8th Beatitude, blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness.

Not all persecution is blessed but only for righteousness, as in being faithful to Christ and his commandments.

Relates to the seventh beatitude, not all peacefulness is good when it's time to fight.

Being faithful christ is bine g a martyr, which means witness, even if this does not mean shedding blood. I will mean suffering

Suffering is passive not action, but is more important and beneficial than action, as Christ's suffering on the cross

Bringing peace or even bringing it up will bring persecution

Heretics and schismatics suffer but are not blessed.

Suffering, persecution, detaches us from things of this world and attaches us to Christ, puts us in good company, with Christ.

Church increases with persecution and decreases with prosperity, material wealth and the lack of suffering leads us

Ave Maria!
