The Life of St. Didacus of Alcala, Confessor, First Order (d. 1463) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Nov 7. St. Didacus of Alcala was born in Spain of poor parents and lived as a hermit at a young age but then entered the Franciscans as a lay brother where he excelled in humility and prayer and was given intellectual enlightenment that excelled that of the learned. He was then sent to the Canary Islands as a missionary. When on a trip to Rome he took care of plague victims, performing many miraculous cures. He died in Spain.
Reflection is on God chooses the lowly for the greatest of works.
