Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Nov 05, 2021, and continues his series on the beatitudes with the second blessed are those who mourn and that this primarily refers to weeping for sins, our own and those of others.
Notes:
Women on the way of the cross mourn for sins of past
Involves patience to being willing to bear suffering patiently
woe to those who laugh, those who live for themselves and mock sins will, in the end, morn
if you seek instant gratification then you will lose eternal gratification
Jesus will give the Holy Spirit who is the consoler of those who morn.
This is why we find consolation in confession when we acknowledge his sins and mourns, has contrition, then he will receive the Consoler
Like David who acknowledges his sin so his heart is like God's
Eternity wi where we will ha eternal consolation, no weeping
Application to our own life: Go to confession and have a heart for others, pray for conversion, Offer our suffering in union with Christ's, ask for Mary's intercession
Ave Maria!
Mass: All Saints of the Franciscan Ord.
