The Life of S. of God Catharine of Bosnia, Widow, Third Order (d. 1478) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Oct 29. Catharine was the queen of Bosnia and promoted the Franciscan but had to flee to Rome when the Turks conquered her kingdom where she became a Third Order Franciscan, giving the remainder of her wealth to the poor and prayed for her former subjects.

Reflection is on the perishability of material things that can get in the way of getting to heaven and cannot satisfy.
We need to depend on more dependable things than other men.
Instead, put our trust in God.
