The Life of Bl. Thomas of Florence, Confessor, First Order (1370-1447) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Oct 28. Thomas of Florence repented from a dissolute life in his youth, leading a life of prayer and penance, and finally entered the Franciscans, practicing great humility and poverty. He was given the gift of miracles. He was made a novice master. He preached against the Fraticelli, and founded many convents in southern Italy. He was sent to the East to promote the reunion of the Orthodox where he suffered much.
Reflection is on sincere conversion like Thomas' which pleases God so much and how it needs much grace from God.
How there must be a real change of life, avoiding sin and embracing virtue and devotion.
The need for penance to atone for the damage done by sins.
