Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Oct 16, 2021, on how the next step after contemplative prayer is affective prayer which is prayer from the heart. It is more oriented to the heart and not the head and therefore more Franciscan. This should not be forced and does require some intellectual type of prayer for the affections to kick in. Keeping the affections simple makes them stronger, increases virtues, including being more detached from worldly things.
