The Life of Bl. Anaclete Gonzalez Flores, Martyr, Third Order (1888-1927) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Sep 8. Gonzalez was a young Catholic activist in Mexico even in college. He used the Catholic press to promote the faith and joined the Third Order Franciscans. During the anti-Catholic persecution of President Calles during the Mexican Civil War he was arrested, tortured, and martyred for his faithfulness.

Reflection is on devotion to the Kingship of Christ. It does not conflict with the authority of earthly leaders. It strengthens the faith of common folk to the point that they can withstand severe persecution.
