Sep 1 – St. Beatrice da Silva – Franciscan Saint of the Day

The Life of St. Beatrice da Silva, Virgin, Foundress, Second Order (d. 1491) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Sep 1st. She started a new contemplative branch of the Second Order called the Conceptionist Poor Clares

The Amadean reform branch of the Franciscans was also inspired by her since it was started by her brother, Bl. Amadeus.  The Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God, centered in NJ USA, were started by nuns from her order.

Reflection is on the vanities of the world and how they should be rejected since they cause strife, are only transient in their benefits, instead, we should work for the glory of God.
