The Life of St. Roch of Montpellier, Confessor, Third Order (d. 1327) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Aug 17. St. Roch of Montpellier was born in a wealthy family and gave to the poor and offered help healing the plague with miracles. He was cast into prison by his own uncle who mistook him as a spy, but he did not defend himself and five years later, just at his death, his identity was made know by a heavenly apparition.

Reflection is on the power of intercessory prayer of holy people like St. Roch especially in times of pandemic.
