The Life of St. Peter Julian Eymard, Confessor, Third Order (1811-1868) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Aug 1. St. Peter Julian Eymard was born in Grenoble, France into a wealthy oil family who was against his desire to be a priest but he persevered in his vocation. He preached and started societies and even a religious order to promote devotion to the eucharist.

Reflection is on the importance of visiting the Blessed Sacrament and all Eucharistic devotion. Such visits are more important than visiting a king or president. This should be according to your vocation, religious should go more often than laypeople. We have in the Blessed Sacrament the same Jesus who walked in the Holy Land but is now a captive for us.
