The Life of St. Lawrence of Brindisi, Confessor and Doctor, First Order (1559-1619) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jul 21. St. Lawrence of Brindis was a Capuchin who had a great devotion to the Virgin Mary, preached widely through Europe, and converted many Protestants and Jews with his gentle approach. He became the minister general of his order and was tasked by the Pope on many important, international missions.
Reflection is on asking the Guidance of the Holy Spirt as exemplified by St Lawrence, asking for this in prayer. The Holy Spirit is needed to know what we should do and how to do it resolutely. This gave St Lawrence council and strength over his weaknesses.
