The Life of Bl. Yolande (Jolenta) of Poland, Widow, Second Order ( 1235-1298 ) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jun 12. Bl. Yolande (Jolenta) of Poland was the daughter of the king of Hungary and sister of St. Kinga. She was married but her husband died. She then entered the convent that she and her late husband founded. She was late elected abbess and her convent thrived. She meditated often on the sufferings of Christ.
Reflection is on despising the world
- Yolanda found happiness by forsaking all things despite having all she could want in her youth.
- Goods of this world are vain and do not satisfy, and are mixed with bitterness, and we must give them up regardless.
- in place of earthly goods we should aim higher, for eternal goods.
