Avoiding the Cult Trap – Apr 28 – Homily – Fr Terrance

 

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Apr 28, 2021, on seven means to avoid cults

1 - Stay in communion with the Church that has Holy Spirit and

2 - Stay connected to your local Parish or at least a parish.

3  - Avoid cultish sites on the internet and people you may meet.

4 - Virtus in media stat - Virtue is in the middle, never at the extremes. Charity is the only thing that can be applied with no limit but other things always have a virtuous middle ground, where a deviation into defect or excess can lead to error and vice.

5 - Seek wise counsel before joining a group that has any sign of imbalance, this helps fill in blind spots

6 - Obedience to the hierarchy and authority - humility

7 - Conformity to Christ not to a group or a person. Primarily need to become like Christ, not any particular leader here on earth. Work on improving self. Do not play the blame game. Become saints.

Add to this the sacraments and consecration to Mary but this our full active cooperation in the graces given.
