Forgiveness Even Without Confession (But Not Communion) – Jan 08 – Homily – Fr Matthias

Views 757

For the homily on Wednesday after Epiphany (Jan 08, 2020), Fr. Matthias explains the Church teaching on “perfect contrition” for sin. No Christian should ever despair of mortal sin, even if we can't immediately get to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We need only be truly sorry for the sake of having offended God and having lost His friendship in order to be restored in His grace.

To worthily receive Holy Communion--the sacrament of unity with Him--however, we must first make a sacramental Confession and receive sacramental absolution.
