Martyrs: Church Triumphant Inspires Church Militant – Dec 11 – Homily – Fr Alan
Views 710
In the homily for the memorial of St. Damasus I, Pope (Dec 11, 2019, Wednesday of the Second Week of Advent), Fr. Alan reflects on the significance of the Catholic practice of veneration of the Martyrs and Saints. Not only has the practice never been confused with idolatry, but it is an expression of the Faith we profess in Article Nine of the Creed: "I believe in... the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints" (cf. Catechism of the Catholic Church, nn. 748-962, esp. 954-959).
