In the homily on the Memorial of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (Nov 13, 2019), Fr. Alan comments on recent developments in the Church, seeing a relation to today's Gospel account of the ungrateful lepers healed by Jesus. He warns against the danger of syncretism—placing myths and false religious beliefs alongside the saving faith—and draws a parallel between the syncretism of the Amazon Synod and the ingratitude of the nine lepers healed by Jesus.
Fr. Alan asserts that syncretism leads to the loss of Christian identity, which can mean the loss of salvation in Christ.
