In the homily for the Feast of Saints Simon & Jude (Apostles, Oct 28, 2019), Fr. Josemaria explains the apostolic mandate, to “transmit the goods of Salvation, which Jesus Christ Himself has won for us.” St. Jude, one of the Apostles we celebrate today, affirms the motivation for his apostolic communication: to encourage the faithful to persevere in the faith, which involves “fighting hard” for that faith, and doing good for others that they might convert to the true faith.

See Dei Verbum, paragraph 8, Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, solemnly promulgate by Pope St. Paul VI, Nov. 18, 1965 (http://www.vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/documents/vat-ii_const_19651118_dei-verbum_en.html)
