Are We Sons of Martyrs or of Revolution? – Sep 02 – Homily – Fr Alan

On the memorial of Blesseds John Francis Burté, Apollinaris Morel de Posat, Severin Girault, and Jean Baptist Triquiere (Franciscan priests and martyrs of the French Revolution, Sept 2 ,2019), Father Alan explains that the Revolution in which they became victims for the faith in Christ is a revolution that continues today.
Most Catholics, it seems, have not awoken to the fact that the French Revolution was just the beginning of an ongoing revolution to overthrow Church and the Christian state, and seem to have forgotten Our Lord’s words: “because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you.” (Jn 15:19). If we do not feel the persecution, might it be that we’re not living as authentic witnesses to Christ and the truth of salvation—which requires a choice between Christ and the world?
