Tares among the Wheat- Jul 27 – Homily – Fr Terrance

 

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Jul 27, 2019 on the parable of the Wheat and the Tares or the Wheat and Weeds and how this relates to our times in the Church. He notes that the good seed came first and this is the truth of the Gospel that yields good fruit and then, afterwards, the enemy came while the shepherds were asleep and sows the weeds, the tares, which are errors and people who are spreading error. When asked if they should tear up the tares the master says no, wait until the harvest, otherwise the wheat will be damaged. This also gives those in error time to repent and gives us an opportunity to offer up suffering and prayers for repentance. In this way we imitate the humble, merciful Christ.
