St. Sharbel: Good Soil, Good Sower – Jul 24 – Homily – Fr Matthias
Views 716
On the memorial of St. Sharbel Makhluf (July 24, 2019), Fr. Matthias relates the holiness of the saint to the Gospel for this day (Wednesday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time).
The parable of the Sower reveals that although most of the seed of the Gospel sadly bears no fruit, when it does it is abundant. A good priest, being good soil, receives the Word of God, Who then multiplies it in and through him. We, too, stand only to gain if we conform ourselves to the condition of being “good soil”: receiving and cherishing God’s grace within us, even when it means suffering for the Truth of the Word.
