In the homily at New Bedford for Tuesday of the 3rd Week of Easter (May 07), Fr. Andre relates the ignorance of the enemies of Christ in the present age with the ignorance of the crowds in today's Gospel; they ignored all the signs in the Old Testament that should have enabled them to recognize Christ as the Messiah. Our Lady is the "sign" for our times, so we need Marian catechesis in our day, particularly for the conversion and salvation of the enemies of the Church.
