In the homily for Monday in the 30th Week in Ordinary Time (Oct 29), Fr. Maximilian explains that Jesus frees us from the bondage of sin through the Sacraments, prayer, and a faithful life.
Breaking down today’s Gospel, Father explains that the synagogue leaders’ hypocrisy lies in their exaggerating the Law as applied to others, but not to themselves. In liberating the woman crippled by “a spirit,” Jesus no more broke the Law than the leaders did by untying of their oxen. He wills our freedom, too. We become free by responding to His call to holiness, using the means He offers.
