Fr. Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Jun 24 on how John the Baptist's name, whose birthday we celebrate today, means "The Lord is Gracious" and that this contrasts to the rough, penitential nature of John, the last of the prophets. His graciousness comes from Jesus to whom his whole ministry was directed. This focus on Christ made him the holiest of the prophets yet we are to become even greater because we are born again into the very family of Christ, the Trinity. Father also points out the humility of John the Baptist that is also based on his focus on Christ, giving us a great example.
