Ave Maria Meditations
Station XII: Jesus dies on the cross
Jesus dies with only Mary and a few close friends by His side. They were the honored few to witness Jesus’ loving gaze as He looked up to the Father with abandonment, the thief with mercy and His Mother with love. Jesus dies so we might trust in Him and His mercy. “O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus I trust in You”.
With Mary by my side, I bring You, Lord, all my sufferings and joy, my doubts and fears, my strengths and weaknesses, my emptiness and longing for fulfillment in You. As You died for me, let me die to everything that makes it difficult to submit my whole self to the Will of our Father in Heaven. In Your own words, help to say often to our Father in Heaven, “Into Your hands, I commit my spirit”…and with Mary, our Mother, pray ”Let it be done according to Your Will”.
After each Station, pray “Jesus, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee”.
