Ave Maria Meditations
Station VII: Jesus falls a second time
Jesus falls a second time because of man’s weakness and rejection of God’s saving grace. To be human is to be limited, fragile and powerless. We fall under a weight beyond our strength. O Jesus, how often do we fall from Your good pleasure, because of what Satan tempts us with, e.g. our own deadly needs of pride, the need to look good, to be right, to judge or measure others, to keep score, to get even, along with our futile efforts to control people, places and things,
O my Jesus, let me never doubt Your Presence and continuous love. Let me not lack confidence in my prayers and Your merciful love. Our limitations are neither the meaning nor the measure of our life; rather, they make plain that the answer to what is lacking in our lives is not to be found in us but in YOU. My weaknesses convince me that I need more than “what I am” in order to truly be “what God wills me to be”. I need YOU, Jesus. I need to come to You always and trust You completely with everything. … embrace Your consoling truths in my mind; and always rely on Your goodness and truth.
After each Station, pray “Jesus, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee”
